How PactOrbit works
PactOrbit is a deadline register for agreements. It records when something expires, when notice must be given, and who needs to act—then reminds that person in advance.
1. Sources of a date
A tracked item can be created by hand in under a minute, imported from a CSV file, or proposed from an uploaded document. Whichever route you use, the stored item holds the same fields: counterparty, expiration date, notice period, deadline, amount and currency, owner, status and notes.
2. Automated extraction is a proposal
When a document is uploaded, its text is read and passed to a language model that must answer in a fixed schema: counterparty, expiration date, auto-renewal, notice length and unit, amount and currency, the excerpt and page each value came from, and an explicit uncertainty flag for anything it could not find. Missing values stay empty. Document text is treated as untrusted data—it is never followed as an instruction and has no access to tools, secrets or other organizations.
3. The confirmation gate
A proposal is inert. It appears side by side with the excerpt it came from, every field is editable, and monitoring only begins when a member of your organization confirms it. Rejecting a proposal leaves nothing scheduled.
4. The date engine
Deadlines are computed as calendar arithmetic on dates only, with no time-of-day and no timezone conversion. Notice periods count back in days or whole calendar months; a month count that lands on a non-existent day is clamped to the end of that month. An explicit deadline written in the agreement always overrides the computed one, and the assumptions used are shown next to the result.
5. Reminders
A confirmed deadline creates reminder rules at 90, 60, 30, 14 and 7 days before the date, evaluated in your organization's timezone. Changing a date cancels the reminders that no longer apply and schedules the ones that do. Reminders are never created for unconfirmed items.
6. Working the list
The dashboard lists items by what is coming up in 30, 60, 90 or 180 days, with search and status filters. Items move through renewed, canceled, expired and archived. Lists export to CSV with spreadsheet formula characters neutralized, and CSV imports are previewed and validated before anything is written.
What PactOrbit does not do
- It does not give legal advice or interpret whether a clause is enforceable.
- It does not send cancellation notices on your behalf.
- It does not guarantee that every date in a document will be found, or found correctly. That is why confirmation is required.
- It does not read documents your organization has not uploaded, and it does not share them between organizations.
